GWGuardian

By using a multi-layered GroupWise anti-spam and anti-virus defense with advanced POP/IMAP and SMTP security options, GWGuardian is a complete GroupWise mail firewall that prevents unauthorised use of GWIA, blocks scan attacks, and enforces authentication of users sending email. GWGuardian also blocks messages based on real-time blacklists (RBL), limits the number of simultaneous connections, and rejects connections from specified addresses or IPs.

GWGuardian is compatible with any mail server, including Novell GroupWise 5.5-6.x. Forbidden Attachments Scanning
A message that has been checked and accepted by the first 8-layer pre-protection mechanism is then subjected to further scanning and processing. It is checked for Forbidden Attachments. GWGuardian features a powerful inner file scanner that goes beyond the mere file extension and actually verifies the content of the file to make sure it matches its extension, thus making it efficient against hidden extensions.

Whitelist / Blacklist Functionality
The email address is then checked against the user-level Whitelist/Blacklist. Email messages from a whitelisted address bypass the scanning process and are automatically accepted, while those coming from a blacklisted address are intercepted and quarantined, deleted, or tagged in the subject line.

Email Content Extractor
One of GWGuardian's most powerful protection layers is the Email Content Extractor. It completely strips the body and subject of a message to prevent text, code, or subject line malformation and to provide the subsequent layers of anti-spam defense with advanced email metrics for further analysis and a clearer diagnosis. Any non-conforming or hidden content is thus removed and the message is sent as purified text with added email metrics for further analysis.

Custom Sieve Scripts
If custom Sieve scripts enforcing corporate email policies have been added, the message is filtered according to the custom rules and may thus circumvent further scanning.
