27-08-2004 Blueloop meet David Laws MP
Blueloop contacted their local MP, David Laws, to discuss the problems Blueloop are experiencing as they attempt to expand.
“There are very few IT companies based in the South West that offer corporate IT support and consultancy and have the experience and expertise to deliver an outstanding service for this market.” remarks Robin Barker, Finance Director.
“Although we fit the criteria in terms of experience and capabilities, financial resources and the way in which we apply for public tenders and contracts, our submissions are rejected simply because we are not a large enough company. This is extremely frustrating when you consider that we have several experienced IT technicians that wish to work for us but it would be suicide to recruit before contracts are awarded. This is clearly a ‘Catch 22’ situation.”
David Laws met Robin Barker, Finance Director and Julie Grant, Marketing Manager at their offices on Tuesday 24th August. David is now fully aware of the issues raised concerning SME’s in the South West and has offered to contact the Office for Deputy Prime Minister, South West Regional Development Agency and Government Office South West to establish the current and future policies for South West business and their support.
Blueloop launched their company four years ago in April 2000 with 3 members of staff at their offices in North Perrott, near Crewkerne. They now employ 9 members of staff. They have over 60 clients which include a large local manufacturer with 4000 users and 140 servers, two south west councils, and also work with leading IT providers to provide additional service and resources. Blueloop have a diverse range of IT consultancy, service and support experience and qualifications. They are also software integrators and resellers for a large range of IT software and hardware products.
